Children’s Podiatry
Children’s Podiatry
It is important to note that pain (sometimes referred to as growing pain) in children’s feet or ankle is never normal and should be taken seriously. If your child complains of pain that lasts more than a few days, or that is severe enough to change the way they walk, we recommend you see a podiatrist.
From birth, until 6-8 years of age, through to the teenage years, there are numerous changes in a child’s skeletal alignment and joint mobility. There are many lower limb problems during adulthood which originate from untreated problems during childhood or teenage years. Some of these problems can be managed significantly better, reduced or even prevented if treated appropriately and early on in life.
At Sydney Foot Clinic, we understand that children are different to adults and it is important to give the correct advice and service to prevent and/or treat lower limb related injuries.
Some common conditions experienced in children are;
- Flat or pronated feet
- In-toeing (pigeon toe)
- Toe-walking
- Sever’s Disease (heel pain)
- Osgood Schlatters Disease (knee pain)
- Plantar warts
- Ingrown toe nails
