Abdel Kak
Dr Abdel Kak is an Australian fellowship trained specialist podiatric surgeon. Dr Kak commenced his foot and ankle study graduating with a Master of Podiatric Medicine from Western Sydney University in 2012. He was awarded the Ted & Grace Renton Perpetual Memorial Award for excellence in achievements in biomechanics and podiatry. Abdel also graduated from Sydney University with a Bachelor of Science (ExsSpsC) further enhancing his biomechanical knowledge and skills.
Abdel furthered his expertise through post-graduate studies with an additional master’s degree from Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh. He undertook a research project which focused on hallux valgus (bunion) surgery and surgical correction. Following this, he completed his surgical Fellowship training through the Australasian College of Podiatric surgeons (ACPS). He underwent rigorous training over six years which included medical and specialist rotations, conference presentations, academic teaching roles and a variety of foot and ankle surgical course and workshops. As part of his fellowship training, Abdel undertook two international surgical rotations at Emory Hospital, Atlanta, USA and Southmead Hospital, Bristol, UK. These rotations comprised of a combination of trauma, elective and limb salvage and surgical exposure furthering his knowledge in foot and ankle medicine.
Abdel has held current and past positions as an adjunct lecturer and clinical supervisor at Western Sydney University and other universities across NSW for 10 years. These academic roles involve teaching undergraduate podiatric medicine students about minor surgery, local anaesthesia and pharmacology.
Dr Abdel Kak practice to the full scope of adult and paediatric foot and ankle surgery. He uses modern surgical techniques to correct conditions and ensure his patients have the best possible outcomes for his patients. He has special clinical interest in:
– Hallux valgus/ bunion correction
– Hammer toe correction
– Neuroma and bursal pathology
– Ankle instability and ligament injuries
– Arthrodesis
– Ingrown toe nail surgery
– Revision surgery
Abdel performs minor procedures in his clinic under local anaesthesia. These may involve ingrown toenail surgery, wart or lesions removal, ganglion aspiration and soft tissue or joint injections.
