Podiatrist

Abdel graduated with a Master of Podiatric Medicine from Western Sydney University in 2012, where he was awarded the Ted & Grace Renton Perpetual Memorial Award, for excellence in achievements in biomechanics and podiatry. Following this, Abdel has gone on to complete 10 years of post-graduate studies. He has completed an additional master’s degree in podiatric medicine via Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh, with a research focus hallux valgus deformities as well as a bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science at the University of Sydney. Abdel is currently in the final stages of completing his surgical fellowship training with the Australasian College of Podiatric Surgery. Abdel is also endorsed by the Podiatry Board of Australia to prescribe schedules medicines for conditions relating to the foot and ankle.

Abdel currently lectures and gives sessional tutorials to podiatry students at both Newcastle University and Western Sydney University. He teaches podiatry students how to perform ingrown toe nail surgery and gives lectures on foot/ankle injection techniques to students. Abdel has given lectures at various conferences and professional meetings including the Australian Podiatry Association and as helped facilitate cadaver injection courses for podiatrists.

Abdel continues to undertake research in foot and ankle medicine and is currently finishing a research project on Hallux Valgus deformities. Abdel has previously sat on the external advisory committee for the podiatry program at western Sydney university and has represented podiatry at the Australian Health care challenge.
